SAT Prep Orlando — Raise Your Score for Bright Futures & College

InLighten’s one-on-one tutors work with Florida high schoolers at every starting point — from 900 to 1300+ — to reach the specific score your student needs for Bright Futures, NCAA eligibility, and college admission. We don’t teach to a generic test. We build a personalized digital SAT strategy around your student’s gaps.

THE PROBLEM

The Digital SAT Strategy Most Orlando Students Miss — Here's Why

The digital SAT is not the test their older siblings took. It’s adaptive — the difficulty of Section 2 adjusts based on how your student performs in Section 1. Studying the same way for both sections is a strategic mistake. Generic prep courses cover the same content for every student; they don’t identify your student’s specific point-loss patterns, and they don’t account for the pressure of hitting a Bright Futures threshold or an NCAA minimum.

ADAPTIVE SECTIONS ON THE DIGITAL SAT

Most students who come to InLighten have already tried a prep book or group course. They improved — but not enough. The gap between “improved” and “hit the Academic Scholars threshold” is often 60–100 points. Closing it requires a tutor who knows exactly which SAT question types your student is missing, and why.

THE METHOD

InLighten's 5-Step SAT Strategy for Florida Students

Every student follows the same five steps — but each path is different, because we adapt every step to the score they need and the mistakes they’re making on the digital SAT.

Step 1 • Diagnostic

Full Practice Test + Error Analysis

A timed full-length digital SAT; every wrong answer categorized by question type, sub-skill, and time spent. This reveals the 3–5 question types causing 80% of lost points.

Step 2 • Target

Map Your Goal: Bright Futures, NCAA, or Admissions

We set one specific target score from your college and scholarship goals, then plan every session backward from that number.

Step 3 • Targeted Sessions

Fix the 3–5 Question Types Costing Points

We don't reteach everything — only what's costing points. Students cover more in 8 sessions than 6 months of self-study by skipping what they already know.

Step 4 • Test Strategy

Adaptive Format, Timing & Elimination Tactics

We train on the Bluebook app, the built-in Desmos calculator, and adaptive scoring — preparing students specifically for the harder Module 2 scenario.

Step 5 • Simulation

Timed Practice Under Test Conditions — Then Adjust

Two weeks out, a complete timed Bluebook simulation; we fine-tune pacing and confirm the target is on track. Most students see a 100–160 point improvement.

FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES

SAT Prep for Student-Athletes — Protecting NCAA Eligibility

For student-athletes, the SAT is not optional — and neither is timing. The NCAA Eligibility Center reviews academic records and test scores before senior year. Missing the Division I minimum (980 SAT) doesn’t just affect admissions — it affects whether D-I coaches can even recruit you. Our Orlando tutors understand the athlete’s schedule, and build SAT plans that work around two-a-day practices, travel tournaments, and recruiting visits — not against them.

9th
Foundation

Grade 9

Core course requirements begin counting for NCAA. This is when math tutoring can prevent SAT score problems before they start.

10th
Baseline

Grade 10

Take the PSAT 10 in October to diagnose a baseline. Students more than 150 points below their NCAA target should begin formal prep by spring.

11th
Primary Testing Year

Grade 11

Most take the SAT in March, May, and/or August. Our 5-Step Strategy runs through 11th grade — allowing 2 attempts before senior-year decisions. PSAT 11 / National Merit qualifier is in October.

12th
Final Review

Grade 12 (Early)

NCAA final review. Scores must be submitted by August before senior year for D-I eligibility. This is a hard deadline — start early.

My son went from a D to a B+ in Algebra II in 5 weeks. The tutor identified exactly why he was losing points — it wasn't the algebra, it was showing his work the way the teacher required. Fixed in session 2.

We tried Kumon for 6 months — no improvement. InLighten's free diagnostic showed us in 40 minutes what Kumon never found. My daughter passed AP Calculus AB with a 4.

Hunter

STUDENT

My student-athlete needed SAT Math help around a brutal practice schedule. InLighten built sessions at 6:30am and he raised his SAT Math score 90 points in 10 sessions — enough for his DI eligibility threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions — SAT Prep Tutoring in Orlando

How long does it take to raise an SAT score for Bright Futures?

Most students who start 3–4 months before their target test date reach their Bright Futures goal within 8–12 sessions. Students with fewer than 6 weeks should focus on the highest-impact question types first — we build an accelerated plan for that scenario. Florida's Bright Futures deadline is tied to your graduation year, so there's time to improve if you start now.

What SAT score does a student-athlete need for NCAA Division I?

NCAA Division I requires a minimum 980 SAT (Reading & Writing + Math combined); Division II requires 820. These scores go to the NCAA Eligibility Center — not college admissions offices. Our tutors work specifically with student-athletes to hit these thresholds within the recruiting timeline coaches require.

Does InLighten teach the new digital SAT format?

Yes. All sessions are built around the digital SAT in College Board's Bluebook app — the only format offered since March 2023. Our tutors are trained on the adaptive module structure, the integrated Desmos calculator, and the updated Reading & Writing question types. We do not use pre-2023 paper-SAT materials.

How is InLighten different from Kaplan, Princeton Review, or Khan Academy?

Group courses teach the same content to every student. Khan Academy is free and great for foundations, but it can't diagnose why your specific student misses specific question types, nor adapt to an athletic schedule or Florida-specific targets. Our one-on-one prep is built entirely around your student's diagnostic results and your family's goals.

Do you serve students outside Orlando — Winter Park, Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips?

Yes. We serve students in-person throughout the greater Orlando metro — Winter Park, Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips, Windermere, and Oviedo — and offer online SAT prep statewide, using the same full-length digital practice tests and diagnostic tools as in-person sessions.
