A frequency table displays how many times each value or category appears in a data set.

General Rule:

• One column lists the values or categories.

• Another column shows their frequencies (counts).

• It summarizes data clearly and is often used to create histograms or analyze distributions.

Why this matters for the SAT:

Frequency tables appear in data interpretation problems. Being able to read them quickly helps in finding totals, averages, medians, or probabilities efficiently.
