Orlando, Florida · In-Person & Online
Our diagnostic-first ACT Prep Orlando program helps high schoolers aiming at Bright Futures scholarships, NCAA eligibility scores, and Step Up for Students requirements. Certified instructors, personalized study plans, in-person across Greater Orlando and online statewide.
No generic curriculum. No one-size-fits-all packets. InLighten’s ACT prep in Orlando begins with a full diagnostic — then every session targets the specific sub-skills holding your student’s score down, across all four ACT sections.
Every student begins with a timed, scored ACT practice test. We analyze section-by-section performance — English, Math, Reading, Science — to identify the exact 5–10 sub-skills responsible for lost points. This is where the real prep plan begins.
Using diagnostic results, your InLighten ACT tutor builds a session-by-session plan targeting your student's highest-yield improvements — English conventions, Math strategies, Reading techniques, and Science data interpretation — in proportion to their impact on the composite.
In-person ACT tutoring serves families across Winter Park, Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips, and Windermere. Live online ACT prep is available anywhere in Florida — including students balancing athletics, homeschool, or work commitments.
The ACT Math section tests 60 questions in 60 minutes — from pre-algebra through trigonometry. Most students lose 3–5 points not from missing content, but from poor time management and unfamiliar question formats. We teach the specific strategies that move composite scores.
60 seconds per question average — we train students to identify which questions to solve first and which to skip and return to.
Calculators are allowed on all 60 questions, but misuse costs time. We teach when to use it — and when mental math is faster.
The ACT heavily tests linear and quadratic functions. We drill pattern recognition so these take under 30 seconds instead of 2 minutes.
Slope, midpoint, and distance problems appear on every ACT. We teach shortcut methods that bypass full algebraic setup.
Trig is about 7% of the Math section. We cover the highest-tested concepts — SOHCAHTOA, unit circle basics, identities — so no points are left on the table.
Families with income at or below 375% of the federal poverty level, children with special needs, or those assigned to a low-performing public school qualify for Step Up for Students educational scholarships in Florida.

Step Up for Students is a Florida scholarship program providing educational support funding to income-qualifying and special-needs families — including funds that can be applied toward tutoring and test preparation. InLighten works with Orlando families to ensure their student receives high-quality ACT prep as part of their educational plan.
Florida Bright Futures awards college funding based on ACT composite scores alongside GPA — and many students miss their scholarship tier by 1–3 ACT points. InLighten’s targeted ACT prep in Orlando is specifically designed to close that gap.
| SCHOLARSHIP TIER | MIN ACT COMPOSITE | MIN GPA | AWARD % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Florida Academic Scholars | 29+ | 3.5 | 100% tuition |
| Florida Medallion Scholars | 21+ | 3.0 | 75% tuition |
| Florida Gold Seal Vocational | 15+ (Reading/Math) | 3.0 | Varies |
InLighten was founded by Demetrie Luke with a clear mission: provide every Orlando student access to rigorous, personalized ACT preparation — not the one-size-fits-all curriculum national chains sell. Our ACT instructors are certified educators with deep subject-matter expertise, not college students working a side gig. We know the ACT inside and out, and we know what Florida students need — Bright Futures thresholds, NCAA cutoffs, and the OCPS calendar.
Every InLighten SAT tutor holds subject-matter certification. We don't place college students with high schoolers — the SAT requires expert-level knowledge of question design, College Board scoring, and score-improvement methodology.
We know the Florida academic calendar, Bright Futures score requirements by tier, and the OCPS testing windows. Our SAT prep is built around Florida deadlines — not a national generic schedule.
We never open with a generic lesson plan. Your student's diagnostic score is the starting point — and every subsequent session is measured against it. Progress is tracked, reported, and used to recalibrate the study plan.
My son went from a 22 to a 29 ACT composite in 12 sessions. He qualified for Florida Academic Scholars — we're still in shock. InLighten knew exactly where he was losing points.
As a student-athlete with practice every day after school, I needed ACT prep that fit my schedule. InLighten built sessions around my calendar and I hit my NCAA eligibility score.
We used Step Up for Students funding and InLighten was incredibly helpful walking us through how it applied. My daughter raised her ACT score 6 points and earned her Medallion Scholars scholarship.
For Florida Academic Scholars, you need a composite ACT score of 29 or higher with a 3.5 GPA. For Medallion Scholars, the minimum is 21 ACT composite with a 3.0 GPA. InLighten's ACT prep in Orlando targets these thresholds specifically. Requirements last updated May 2026.
Most students see meaningful improvement (4–6 composite points) after 10–16 sessions. Students within 1–2 points of their goal — such as those targeting the Medallion Scholars cutoff — often achieve it in 6–8 focused sessions targeting their specific weak sub-sections.
Yes. InLighten's certified ACT tutors serve families in-person across Greater Orlando — including Winter Park, Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips, and Windermere. We also offer live online ACT prep for Florida families throughout the state.
Our ACT Math prep focuses on the five highest-impact areas: pacing and time management, calculator-use strategy, algebraic pattern recognition, coordinate geometry shortcuts, and targeted trigonometry. We identify which sub-skills cost your student the most points using our diagnostic, then teach the techniques that recover those points efficiently.
InLighten Tutoring works with Orlando families using Step Up for Students educational scholarships. Contact us to discuss how your student's award may apply to ACT prep tutoring services. We can walk you through the process.
National chains use standardized curricula for every student regardless of their diagnostic profile. InLighten's ACT tutoring begins with a full diagnostic — every session is then built around your student's specific score gaps. You're not paying for content you already know, and our instructors are certified educators, not undergraduate tutors.
Know your student’s exact score gap before you commit to anything. In-person across Greater Orlando or live online statewide.
